For some instructors and leaders, after a while the mountains become just another job. For me, skiing, trekking and climbing remain my passion. When I have free time I spend it in the mountains, either skiing, ski touring or hiking, or doing some of the many other activities this region has to offer – rock climbing, mountaineering, trail running, mountain biking or via ferrata to name a few.
If you’re here, you probably want to know a little bit more about me, why you should read my site or why choose me as a ski teacher in Deux Alpes, so here is a bit more about my professional life and qualifications.
I began teaching skiing in 2004, at Nevis Range in Scotland, and still think this is the best job in the world. I gained my International Ski Teacher Diploma in 2014, giving me full equivalence with the highest level qualifications across Europe and recognition to work in all the Alpine nations as an independent instructor. Along the way I have taught in five countries across three continents, and worked alongside instructors from all corners of the globe. More recently I gained the International Mountain Leader award in January 2018.
I teach all types of skiing to all levels and ages, and over the last decade or so have gained experience of many different customer needs and expectations as well as many different approaches to teaching skiing. Piste performance, off-piste skiing or ski touring – I love all aspects of this sport and want to share the many pleasures of skiing with as many people as possible.
Over the last year I have been writing articles on skiing and the local area for a number of websites. I find this a great way to share my experiences of our mountains with more people. Have a look a the Writing page for more details.
